Christopher Root, 29, of Old Saybrook died at MacDougall-Walker Correctional in Suffield early March 12 after his cellmate alerted staff. DOC and State Police are investigating.
Martin Onofre-Mendez, 50, of New Haven was sentenced March 3 to 20 months in federal prison for cocaine distribution from a Grand Avenue restaurant and will be deported to Mexico.
Cynthia Chamberlain, 59, who had been missing from New Haven since February 10, was found dead on March 9 in a park in the city's Hill neighborhood. An autopsy found no evident trauma. The investigation remains ongoing.

Nicole Carbone, 41, was arrested again at her Holland Road home after police say she resumed drug sales 23 days after 141 grams of fentanyl were seized. DEA and FBI assisted.
Dominic Landolfi, 61, was struck in a hit-and-run on Forbes Avenue in New Haven, then boarded a bus to East Haven. He died two days later. Police seek the driver.
