Cynthia Chamberlain, Missing Since February, Found Dead in New Haven Park

Cynthia Chamberlain, the 59-year-old New Haven woman who had been missing since February 10, was found dead on the afternoon of Monday, March 9, in a park in the city's Hill neighborhood.

Children playing near Bayview Park discovered Chamberlain's body at approximately 5:43 p.m. near 100 Hallock Avenue, according to the New Haven Police Department. She was found under the tree line next to a fence and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services.

An autopsy conducted by the Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner did not find any evident trauma. A toxicology report is pending and is not expected for several weeks. Her death remains under investigation.

Chamberlain Had Been Missing for Nearly a Month

Chamberlain was last seen on February 10, 2026, in front of 169 Davenport Avenue in New Haven, the address of the Advanced Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of New Haven in the Dwight neighborhood. She was wearing black Puma sneakers and a white jacket at the time of her disappearance.

The New Haven Police Department's Special Victims Unit issued a public appeal for information on February 25, 15 days after Chamberlain was last seen. The department had not publicly explained the gap between her disappearance and the public bulletin, or the involvement of the Special Victims Unit rather than the general Missing Persons Unit.

Chamberlain was described as between 5 feet 3 inches and 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing approximately 100 pounds, with short brown hair and brown eyes. Her family noted she had a distinguishing "lazy eye" that could aid in identification.

Investigation Ongoing

The New Haven Police Department has not released additional details about the circumstances of Chamberlain's death or how she came to be in the Hill neighborhood park, roughly one mile south of the Davenport Avenue address where she was last seen.

Anyone with information is asked to contact New Haven police detectives at 203-946-6304 or the anonymous tip line at 866-888-TIPS (8477).
