North Haven Election Results: Fazio and Cicarella Carry the Town

Cicarella led at home, but his 34th Senate race sits about 25 votes behind Mandato heading into a recount

North Haven Town Hall in North Haven, Connecticut

NORTH HAVEN, CT — North Haven voters favored Republican Ryan Fazio over Gov. Ned Lamont and backed their own state senator, Republican Paul Cicarella, in Tuesday's election, the town's unofficial results show. Across Cicarella's whole district, though, he trails Democrat Brandi Mandato by about 25 votes as the race heads toward a recount.

Patch posted North Haven's totals Wednesday. The figures below count North Haven voters only and add each candidate's party lines together.

The 34th District Recount

Across the district, the Associated Press projected Mandato the winner with 25 votes between them and about 99% of ballots counted, CT News Junkie reported Wednesday, and a recount is expected. Connecticut Public reported that the result could settle whether Senate Democrats hold a 32-4 or a 33-3 majority.

Wallingford, the other large town in the district, went to Mandato 9,620 to 8,425 in its own count. Every Election Day ballot there will be counted again on Friday, Nov. 6, after about 100 printed replacement ballots went through a tabulator by mistake. The Post's Wallingford story has the details.

Every result stays unofficial until the secretary of the state certifies it.
