Hamden High School's Laura Luzzi Pool Closed Over Water Temperature Repairs

HAMDEN, CT — The Laura Luzzi Pool at Hamden High School is closed after a mechanical problem dropped the water temperature below 69 degrees, the town says. The Hamden Recreation Department announced the closure Thursday, Oct. 15, Patch reported, and the pool will stay shut until repairs are made and the water is back to a safe, comfortable temperature.

The Board of Education has ordered the parts it needs, officials wrote on Facebook, and will make the repairs as quickly as possible. They said a reopening date will be announced once it is confirmed, and the town says it will post updates on its pool page at hamden.com.

The pool, 25 yards long with six lanes and 4 to 12 feet deep, is at 2040 Dixwell Avenue, with its entrance at the rear of the high school. It is generally open for public swimming on weekday mornings and evenings, with a swim pass from the Recreation Department or a daily fee paid poolside. The Hamden High School Green Dragons, the Hamden Heronettes and the Hamden-North Haven swim teams train there.
