Property Tax Guide for Hamden, CT

Due dates, payment options, and what Hamden residents need to know to avoid late fees

Overview

Hamden's current mill rate is 51.88 mills for the 2024 Grand List (FY 2025–2026), one of the highest in the state. The town has implemented a 4-year phase-in for its recent revaluation. Note that for FY 2025–2026, tax bills have an adjusted due date of August 1, 2025, with a grace period through September 2, 2025.

Important: Hamden does not mail a second-installment bill. If your tax bill exceeds $250, your second payment is due January 1 — even if you don't receive a bill. Missing this deadline triggers interest backdated to the due date.
