EAST HAVEN, CT — Mayor Joseph A. Carfora announced East Haven's Fall 2026 bulk waste pickup for the week of Monday, Nov. 9, through Friday, Nov. 13, with collection on each household's regular trash day.
Set-Out Timing and Size Rules
According to Patch.com, residents cannot set bulk items at the curb before Saturday, Nov. 7. Items must be of manageable weight, and small pieces must go in bags or boxes. Metal must be kept apart from other waste and be no more than four feet long.
Bulk piles must sit apart from regular trash and recycling containers. Condo complexes have a separate pickup date: Saturday, Nov. 7.
Items Crews Will Not Take
The town prohibits televisions, refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers, freezers, mattresses or box springs, paint and other liquid waste, propane and helium tanks, yard waste, vehicle tires, and construction and demolition debris. The town says grass clippings and vehicle tires are prohibited by state law. Bulk from contractors is also barred.
East Haven's residential bulk-pickup page says service is for one- to three-family homes; crews will not collect curbside dumps from whole households or rental properties.
Holiday trees may be taken to the landfill at no charge. Christmas tree curbside pickup begins Jan. 5 and runs about two weeks; residents with questions can contact the Department of Public Works.
