Overview
Branford enforces an automatic parking ban during snow and ice storms. By default, parking is prohibited on the even-numbered side of the street. During substantial snowfall, the Branford Police Department may escalate to a full ban on both sides.
How the Snow Emergency Is Declared
Two tiers:
- Automatic ban: During and immediately after all snow and ice storms, the even-side parking ban is automatically in effect under Town Ordinance.
- Full parking ban: During substantial snowfall, the Branford Police Department may enact a full parking ban requiring no parking on both sides of the street.
Parking Rules During a Snow Emergency
- Standard (automatic): No parking on the even-numbered side of the street, unless otherwise ordered by the Board of Selectmen. Vehicles may not be parked in any manner that interferes with sanding or snow removal.
