NORTH BRANFORD, CT — Two teenagers were ejected early Friday, Oct. 9, when the stolen car they were in rolled over on Totoket Road, North Branford police said. Both were taken to Yale New Haven Hospital, and police said their injuries are not considered life-threatening.
How the Crash Unfolded Early Friday
Police said a resident called around 3:48 a.m. to report two people in dark clothing trying to get into vehicles in the 900 block of Totoket Road. On the way, officers saw a black Chrysler 300 going south at high speed. A short time later, they found the car on its roof in the 400 block.
Police said the two occupants, a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old, appeared to have been ejected. Officers gave them first aid until firefighters and paramedics arrived. A home near the crash site had minor damage, according to police.
Investigators learned the Chrysler had been reported stolen out of Seymour on Wednesday, the department said. Officers did not chase the car because of the danger its reckless driving posed to the public.
Totoket Road was closed for several hours between Augur Road Extension and Borrelli Road and has since reopened, NBC Connecticut reported. North Branford detectives, the South Central Connecticut Traffic Unit and the New Haven State's Attorney's Office all responded, according to the station.
