WOODBRIDGE, CT — Two people were found dead inside a home on Orchard Road on Friday, Oct. 2, after an employee of the homeowners told police they could not reach them, Woodbridge police said. Authorities told WFSB the two were a husband and wife.
Officers were called to the house at about 11:49 a.m. for a well-being check, Police Chief Ronald Smith said. The employee had grown worried when the couple did not come to work and went to the house but could not reach them, NBC Connecticut reported. Police obtained a warrant, went in through a rear window and found the two inside, according to police.
Smith said the deaths appear to be an isolated incident, and police know of no threat to anyone else. Woodbridge police are leading the investigation, and the Connecticut State Police Major Crimes Unit processed the scene. Investigators were at the house for more than eight hours, WFSB reported.
Police have not said how the couple died. In a later Facebook post, the department said it is not yet characterizing the circumstances because the investigation is continuing, the Connecticut Post reported. The state medical examiner's office is working with police to determine how the two died; its findings are pending.
