Shots Fired During Butler Avenue Break-In Attempt

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Two masked suspects tried to enter a Butler Avenue home through a side window at about 10:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, then fired at people outside and fled by car, police said. No one was injured, and no arrests have been made.

NBC Connecticut reported the incident Saturday, Sept. 26. Police went to Butler Avenue after a report of the attempted entry. According to that account, the pair tried the side window, then jumped a fence onto the property.

What Police Say Happened in Bridgeport

Once they were scared off, the two turned their guns on people standing in the street and then ran to a car, NBC Connecticut reported. Police have not released a description of the car or of the suspects beyond saying both wore masks.

Bullets Struck a Car; Casings Were Found

Gunfire hit a car belonging to one of the people who was shot at, and officers found shell casings in the area, according to NBC Connecticut. No one was hurt.

Police believe the house was targeted. They have not said who may have targeted it or why.

Bridgeport Police Ask for Tips

The investigation is continuing. Police are asking anyone with information to call Detective Francis Santoro of the Bridgeport Police Department at 203-581-5183, NBC Connecticut reported.
