One person died after fire in Bridgeport
BRIDGEPORT, CT — One person died Wednesday, Sept. 23, after firefighters pulled them from a three-alarm fire at a multi-family home on Denver Avenue in Bridgeport, officials said. Bridgeport spokesperson Shawnna White said the person was taken to Bridgeport Hospital in critical condition and later died.
Firefighters responded to the 140 block of Denver Avenue at about 4:14 p.m. and found heavy flames coming from the home’s third floor, White told the Connecticut Post. Crews searched the building and removed the person.
Crews raised the fire to a third alarm
Firefighters upgraded the fire to a second alarm at 4:20 p.m. and to a third alarm at about 4:42 p.m., White said. Two other people were taken to the hospital for evaluation but were not injured.
The fire was brought under control. Crews remained at the scene about 6 p.m. Wednesday, targeting remaining hotspots, White told the Connecticut Post.
