NEW HAVEN, CT — A New Haven Superior Court jury on Thursday, Oct. 22, convicted a 58-year-old New Haven man of sexually assaulting two children under 10, State's Attorney John P. Doyle Jr. of the New Haven Judicial District announced.
The jury found him guilty on two counts each of first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor, Doyle's office said.
Abuse Reported Years Later
Prosecutors said the assaults happened in New Haven from 2012 to 2014, when both children were younger than 10. The two went to police in 2022 to report what had been done to them, according to the state's attorney's office. Court records cited by WTNH show the man was arrested in May 2023.
Both cases were heard together in a single jury trial before Judge Maureen M. Keegan. Prosecutors Gregory L. Borrelli, a senior assistant state's attorney, and Krista N. Minniti, an assistant state's attorney, tried the case, helped by Inspector Kevin Grenier, the office said.
"No matter how much time may have passed, or how fearful victims may be to tell their story, our office remains committed to prosecuting these crimes to the fullest extent," Doyle said.
Doyle also thanked the Yale Child Sexual Abuse Clinic and Dr. Danielle Williams of Torrington's Center for Youth and Families for helping with the case.
