New Haven Government Roundup: Parking Rules, School Facility Workshops

NEW HAVEN, CT — The Legislation Committee was scheduled to meet Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 6 p.m. in the Aldermanic Chambers, 165 Church St., second floor, to consider three ordinance amendments.

Legislation Committee

The agenda included a proposal on where oversized and commercial vehicles may park in residential, park and cemetery zones; a proposal to add automated parking control systems to city ordinances; and a change to the city's juice bar event process. Minutes had not been posted as of Oct. 2, so the committee’s actions are unknown.

Education Committee

The Education Committee was scheduled to hold two workshops Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 6 p.m. in the Aldermanic Chambers, 165 Church St., second floor. One was about school facility concerns and the status of work orders for the school year, with the New Haven Federation of Teachers. The other was scheduled to cover school facility inspections, identified concerns, corrective measures, coordination among departments and outstanding issues, with the school district’s chief administrative office and the city’s Community Services Administration. Minutes had not been posted as of Oct. 2.

Aldermanic Affairs Committee

The Aldermanic Affairs Committee was scheduled to meet Monday, Sept. 28, at 6 p.m. in the Aldermanic Chambers, 165 Church St., second floor, to consider proposed appointments. The agenda listed Myla Generette to the Commission on Disabilities; Wengel Kifle as a regular member of the Environmental Advisory Council; Avarice (Elliott) Jacovino and Colin Mauro to the Peace Commission; and Jameelah Irshad to the Youth Commission. The listed items were orders seeking approval of the appointments, not confirmation that they were approved. Minutes had not been posted as of Oct. 2.
