Blizzard Closures

A major winter storm forced the cancellation of Hamden's Legislative Council meeting originally scheduled for Monday, February 23. Governor Lamont declared a state of emergency as blizzard conditions swept through Sunday evening and into Monday. All non-essential town offices and buildings — including Government Center, Keefe Community Center, the Senior Center, and all Hamden Public Library branches — closed for the day. Hamden Public Schools also closed. Police, fire, and public works departments remained operational, and town offices reopened Tuesday, February 24, at regular hours.

Planning & Zoning Commission

The Planning & Zoning Commission meets Tuesday, February 24, at 7:00 p.m. in the Legislative Council Chambers at Memorial Town Hall, 2372 Whitney Avenue. The hybrid meeting is available both in person and via Zoom. The commission meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month.

Wednesday, February 25

Three government sessions are scheduled for Wednesday, February 25:

Citation Appeal Hearing — 9:00 a.m. in the Lower Level Conference Room at 2750 Dixwell Avenue.

SCRCOG Board & Executive Committee — The South Central Regional Council of Governments holds its regular meeting at 10:00 a.m. at 127 Washington Avenue, 4th Floor West, North Haven. Hamden is a member municipality of the regional planning body. Agendas and minutes are posted at scrcog.org.

Community Development Block Grant Public Hearing — 6:00 p.m. at Keefe Community Center, 11 Pine Street (parking at 19 George Street). The town will review the FY 2026-2027 Annual Action Plan and the PY51 Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report, and seek public input on spending priorities.
