Free event hosted by Guilford Parks and Recreation features age-specific hunts for children 3 through 10; rain date set for April 4
Guilford's Annual Eggstravaganza Set for March 28 on the Town Green
Guilford Parks and Recreation will host the Annual Eggstravaganza on Saturday, March 28, 2026, beginning at 10 a.m. on the Guilford Town Green. The event is free and open to children up to age 10, with a rain date set for Saturday, April 4, 2026.
Now a fixture in Guilford's spring calendar, the Eggstravaganza brings hundreds of families to the historic Town Green each year for a morning of egg hunts and activities.
Age-Specific Hunts for Three Groups
The event is organized around three separate egg hunts by age group, allowing each age bracket dedicated time and space to participate without competing with older children:
- Ages 3 and under
- Ages 4–6
- Ages 7–10
Children attending are encouraged to bring their own baskets or bags to collect eggs. Guilford Parks and Recreation typically stages the hunts in sequence to give younger participants a fair chance before older children take their turn.
Easter Bunny Photos and Youth Vendors
In addition to the egg hunts, families can get photos taken with the Easter Bunny at the event. This traditional feature of the Eggstravaganza draws long lines from families looking to capture the spring holiday with their children.
This year's event will also include a youth entrepreneurship component. Celestine Courtright, a young local vendor, is expected to sell handmade slime and bracelets at the event — one of the small-vendor opportunities Guilford Parks and Recreation has incorporated into community events to give young entrepreneurs a platform.
About the Guilford Town Green
The Guilford Town Green, located along Broad Street in the center of town, is one of the largest and most well-preserved historic town greens in Connecticut. Spanning approximately 12 acres, it has served as the civic and cultural heart of Guilford since the town's founding in 1639.
The Green hosts a variety of annual events throughout the year, including concerts, farmers markets, and seasonal celebrations. Its central location and open layout make it an ideal venue for family events like the Eggstravaganza, which draws participants from Guilford and surrounding shoreline communities.
Guilford Parks and Recreation Programs
Guilford Parks and Recreation manages the town's parks, athletic facilities, and recreational programming year-round. The department offers seasonal programs for children, adults, and seniors, and coordinates community events including summer camps, sports leagues, and holiday celebrations.
The Eggstravaganza is one of the department's most popular spring events, typically drawing strong turnout from families across Guilford and neighboring towns on the Connecticut shoreline.
The event is free to attend, and no preregistration is required for the egg hunts or Easter Bunny photos. Families are advised to arrive promptly at 10 a.m. as hunts are typically brief and supplies are limited.
