Board of Selectmen

The Durham Board of Selectmen will hold a public hearing on Sunday, February 23, at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall's third floor on a proposed ordinance to authorize Automated Traffic Enforcement Safety Devices (ATESD) under Connecticut General Statutes Section 14-307c. Remote access will be available via Zoom. The ordinance would allow the town to install automated traffic cameras to improve road safety.

The hearing caps a busy stretch of budget work for the board. On February 9, the selectmen held a 5:00 p.m. budget workshop followed by a regular meeting at 7:00 p.m., where they accepted nominations to fill vacancies on the Board of Assessment Appeals (2027 term), the Building Code Appeals Board (alternate, 2028 term), and the Ethics Commission under Town Charter Section 2.6. On February 12, the board held a joint budget meeting with the Board of Finance covering FY26-27 hearings for Public Works, Emergency Management, the Volunteer Fire Company, and Fire Company Trustees.

First Selectman Brendan Rea will also host a public Q&A session on Saturday, March 7, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Durham Community Center Library Room. No official actions will be taken.

Board of Finance

The Board of Finance canceled its regularly scheduled February 10 meeting. However, the board participated in the February 12 joint budget session with the Board of Selectmen as part of ongoing FY26-27 fiscal planning.

Planning and Zoning Commission

The Planning and Zoning Commission met on Wednesday, February 18, at 7:00 p.m. at Town Hall in a hybrid in-person and Zoom format. The commission meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month.

Board of Education (Regional School District 13)

The Regional School District 13 Board of Education Building Committee is scheduled to meet on February 18, alongside the School Naming Committee at 4:00 p.m. The Policy Committee's February 18 meeting was canceled.
