Cheshire Town Manager Releases FY 2027 Proposed Budget Book, Public Review Period Underway
Cheshire Town Manager Sean Kimball released the FY 2027 Proposed Digital Budget Book on March 10, 2026, marking the start of a public review period that will run through a series of departmental presentations and public hearings before the Town Council votes on adoption in late April.
The digital budget book was made available through the town's CivicAlerts page and is accessible via ClearGov, the platform the town uses to publish financial documents in an interactive format. Kimball formally presented the proposed budget to the Cheshire Town Council and community at a public hearing on March 11 at 7:00 p.m. in Council Chambers. The hearing covered the General Fund, Water Pollution Control, and Community Pool budgets, as well as Board of Education presentations. Kimball's presentation slides were published on the town's website on March 12.
Budget Schedule: Department Reviews Through April
The release follows the FY 2026-27 Operating Budget Schedule, which was published February 27, 2026, and laid out a structured calendar of departmental reviews and public meetings ahead of the final vote.

The Town Council is scheduled to hold its adoption vote on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in Council Chambers. A second session on Wednesday, April 29 has been reserved if needed. The schedule notes it is subject to amendments.
Digital Format Aims to Improve Transparency
The town's use of a digital budget book, hosted through ClearGov, allows residents to navigate budget line items for individual departments rather than reading a static PDF. The format supports searching, sorting, and comparing figures across departments.
The budget covers four main fund areas: the General Fund, Water Pollution Control, Community Pool, and the Board of Education. Town Manager Kimball, who leads the preparation of the annual operating budget, is responsible for presenting the proposal to the Council before deliberations begin.
How Residents Can Participate
Residents can access the FY 2027 Proposed Digital Budget Book and Kimball's March 11 presentation slides on the town's official website at cheshirect.gov. The public information session on April 15 is designed specifically to allow community input before the Council moves into final deliberations.
Cheshire's school spring break is scheduled for April 6-10, 2026, which falls between the March 31 and April 13 departmental sessions.
The Council's final vote on the FY 2027 operating budget is set for April 28. Any amendments approved during deliberations will be incorporated before adoption.
