CHESHIRE, CT — Cheshire's Planning and Zoning Commission had three special permit applications on its Sept. 28 agenda, two of them on Highland Avenue, and the Energy Commission was set to discuss fuel cells and solar panels for town schools. On Monday, Oct. 5, the Zoning Board of Appeals hears a state request tied to sidewalk work on South Main Street. Minutes for last week's meetings had not been posted as of Friday, Oct. 2, so the agendas show what was scheduled, not what was decided.
Planning and Zoning Commission
The commission scheduled a public hearing and its regular meeting for 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, in the Town Hall Council Chambers, 84 South Main St. The agendas carried three special permit applications:
- two single-family detached houses at 23 Chamberlain Court, in the R-80 zone;
- a change to an existing special permit covering 1721 and 1755 Highland Ave., in the I-1 industrial zone;
- an application from the Town of Cheshire itself for 954 Highland Ave., in the R-20 zone.
The agenda gives the hearings on the first two until Oct. 19 to close and the town's until Nov. 2. The regular meeting also listed continued discussion of Highland Farms.
Energy Commission
The Energy Commission was scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, in Room 210 at Town Hall. Under new savings opportunities, its agenda listed a proposal for fuel cells at Cheshire High School and the wastewater treatment plant and solar panels on six schools. Other items included the community pool's cogeneration use, new boilers at police headquarters, a heat emergency plan and better cooling centers under the town's Climate Leader designation work, and a look back at the Fall Festival.
