Bridgeport Police Investigate Harral Avenue Shooting
A man was shot shortly after midnight Sunday, September 13, near Harral Avenue in Bridgeport, across from the Greene Homes public housing complex, police said. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the back and made his way into an apartment in Greene Homes after the shooting.
Police said the man was alert and conscious when officers arrived. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, where his condition was unknown at the time of reporting.
The shooting happened outside a local store. Police said an investigation was underway, but no further details about the store were released.
ShotSpotter Detected 17 Gunshots
Bridgeport police said the department’s ShotSpotter system detected 17 gunshots on Harral Avenue several minutes after midnight. Several 911 calls immediately followed, reporting gunfire in the area.
One caller said the victim made his way into their apartment in Greene Homes after he was shot. The report brought officers to the area across from the housing complex as they began investigating the scene.
Several streets in Bridgeport’s Hollow section were closed while officers investigated. Police did not release additional details about a suspect, motive or arrest.
The investigation is being handled by the Bridgeport Police Department’s Non-Fatal Shooting Task Force. Both the shooting and the broader investigation remained active at the time of reporting.
