Overview
The Meriden Transfer Station at 226 Evansville Avenue is open to Meriden residents for residential waste disposal. The facility operates on a limited schedule — Monday, Wednesday, and the first and third Saturdays of each month. Commercial and industrial waste is not accepted. DPW personnel are not permitted to assist with unloading, so bring adequate help for large items.

The transfer station is closed during inclement weather and other emergency conditions.
Sticker / Permit Requirements
No sticker purchase is required. To access the facility, you must present one of the following:
- Valid Connecticut driver's license with a Meriden address
- CT DMV Change of Address label showing Meriden
- Paid tax bill showing Meriden residency
U-Haul vehicles are permitted with proof of residency.

- Mattresses and box springs in good condition (free of charge)
- Compost (available free to residents)

- Commercial or industrial waste

- Pillows, bedding, futons, and water beds
- Recycling is not currently collected at the transfer station

Hazardous Waste Collection
Meriden residents can dispose of household hazardous waste at HazWaste Central, located at 90 Sargent Drive, New Haven, operated by the Regional Water Authority. Check the RWA website for current hours and schedule.
