Wallingford Man Found with Shotgun During Neighbor Dispute

A 64-year-old Wallingford man was arrested on the evening of February 17, 2026, after a neighbor reported that he was sitting on his front stoop holding a shotgun and making threatening gestures during what police described as an ongoing dispute.

Officers responded to Clinton Place at approximately 7:26 p.m. and found David Scott Brown seated outside his residence with a short black shotgun in hand. According to police, the complainant told officers that Brown had been "holding and manipulating what appeared to be a shotgun, gesturing toward him as he racked the shotgun." Brown complied with verbal commands to drop the weapon and was taken into custody without incident.

The shotgun was found to be unloaded. A search of Brown also revealed two small knives.

Charges and Bail

Brown was charged with threatening in the first degree and breach of peace in the second degree. He was held on a $100,000 surety bond and was scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on March 2, 2026.

Risk Protection Order

Following the arrest, a judge signed a Risk Protection Order authorizing police to seize Brown's firearms, additional ammunition, and his pistol permit. The order is a Connecticut legal tool that allows courts to temporarily remove weapons from individuals deemed an imminent threat to themselves or others.

Ongoing Dispute

Wallingford police noted that "there have been previous and ongoing disputes between the complainant and Brown," though the nature of those disputes was not detailed in the police report. No injuries were reported in connection with the February 17 incident.
