A 61-year-old New Haven man died March 3, 2026, from injuries sustained in a fire the previous morning at a Clinton housing complex for elderly residents and people with disabilities, authorities said.

Glenn Hall, 61, was found in the hallway of the building and removed by firefighters from Lafayette Green, a residential complex off East Main Street in Clinton that provides housing for elderly residents and individuals with disabilities. He was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital with severe burns. Hall died the following day, March 3.

Fire Reported at 10:30 a.m. Monday

Clinton firefighters responded to Lafayette Green at approximately 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 2, after emergency crews received a call reporting the blaze. Crews encountered heavy smoke and intense heat upon arrival and brought the fire under control shortly after arriving on scene.

The fire ignited on the second floor of the first apartment building at the complex, where a window was broken out. Hall was the only person injured.

Three other apartment units in the building were unaffected by the fire itself, but their occupants were displaced. The American Red Cross responded to assist the displaced residents.

Cause Under Investigation; No Foul Play Suspected

The Connecticut State Police Fire & Explosives Investigation Unit arrived at the scene to assist Clinton fire investigators in determining the cause and origin of the fire. Investigators remained on scene for several hours following initial emergency response.

Authorities said the fire appears to have been accidental. There is no indication of foul play, according to investigators.

No final determination on the cause has been made public.

Lafayette Green and Clinton Housing for Elderly Residents

Lafayette Green is a residential complex designed to serve elderly residents and individuals with disabilities in Clinton. The complex is located off East Main Street, a commercial and residential corridor that runs through the center of the shoreline town.

Clinton, located on Long Island Sound in Middlesex County, has a population of roughly 13,000 residents. The town is served by the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department, which responded to the March 2 blaze.

Housing fires in multi-unit residential buildings carry heightened risk for elderly residents, who may face physical limitations that make evacuation more difficult. The National Fire Protection Association has documented that adults 65 and older face significantly higher rates of fire-related death per capita than younger age groups, due in part to slower evacuation times and a higher likelihood of living alone.

No statements from Lafayette Green management, Hall's family, or the Clinton Fire Department beyond the initial incident report have been made public.
