Silas Harris was taken into custody on Monday, March 23, following a warrant arrest by the Hamden Police Department. He faces one count of first-degree assault and one count of carrying a pistol without a permit. Harris's bond was set at $300,000, and a court date has been scheduled for April 6, 2026.

Victim Found in Road After Reported Gunshots

Police responded to the 500 block of Mix Avenue — near 595 Mix Ave — at approximately 7:10 p.m. on Friday, March 20, after receiving reports of gunshots and a man fleeing the area. Officers arrived to find the 32-year-old victim in the road suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital and listed in stable condition.

The Hamden Police Department confirmed the shooting was connected to a domestic dispute that preceded the incident. No further details about the relationship between Harris and the victim have been publicly released.

Major Crimes Division Leading Investigation

The Hamden Police Department's Major Crimes Division is handling the investigation. Detective Nutcher is the lead investigator on the case and can be reached at 203-230-4000. Lt. Robert Manfield provided public statements about the incident.

Police made no initial arrests on the night of the shooting. The warrant for Harris was executed three days later, on March 23. The investigation remains active.

Mix Avenue Shooting in Context

First-degree assault in Connecticut is a Class B felony. Carrying a pistol without a permit is a Class D felony under Connecticut General Statutes. If convicted on both counts, Harris could face significant prison time under state sentencing guidelines.

The next scheduled court appearance for Harris is April 6, 2026. No additional information about the prosecution of the case has been made public.
