Three Arrested in Fairfield Armed Home Invasion; Suspects Linked to New Haven Homicide
Three men — including a Hamden resident — were arrested in connection with an armed home invasion that rattled a Fairfield neighborhood in the early morning hours of February 19, 2026, closing three local schools and triggering a shelter-in-place order. Authorities have since revealed that two of the suspects are also under investigation in a separate homicide case in New Haven.
Kaleem Uthmaan, 25, of Hamden; Naszar Hobby, 21, of New Haven; and Juan Felix, 25, of Monroe were each charged with home invasion, first-degree robbery with a deadly weapon, five counts of unlawful restraint, and two counts of risk of injury to a minor. All three were arraigned at Bridgeport Superior Court on February 21 and held on $3 million bond.
At the time of initial arraignment, bonds for Uthmaan and Hobby were later reduced to $1 million each, with GPS ankle monitoring required as a condition of release. Felix's bond was reduced to $2 million. Both Uthmaan and Hobby are due back in court on March 6.
Home Invasion Unfolded at 2:30 a.m.
Fairfield police responded to the Candlewood Road home around 2:30 a.m. after receiving reports of an armed robbery in progress. Multiple family members, including minors, were inside the home when the suspects forced their way in wearing masks, hoodies, and dark clothing. No injuries were reported.
One suspect was apprehended at the scene after attempting to flee. A second was captured on the Merritt Parkway in Stratford, and a third was arrested later that day in Hamden. Multiple firearms were recovered in connection with the arrests.
Investigators determined the crime was premeditated. Suspects were found in possession of a handwritten floor plan of the targeted home, indicating advance surveillance of the property.
Fairfield Police Chief Michael Paris said the arrests demonstrated the department's commitment to addressing crime that originates outside the town. "If you come into the Town of Fairfield with the intent to commit a crime, you should fully expect that the Fairfield Police Department will find you, and we will arrest you," Paris said.
Police also emphasized the crime was not random. "This was not a random act, this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat" to public safety, officials stated.
