Terence Gallimore convicted in fatal shooting that left Brandaja Winston dead and another man injured.
Bridgeport Man Receives 80-Year Sentence for Stratford Avenue Shooting
Terence Gallimore, 35, was sentenced to 80 years in prison on February 25, 2026, for the murder of Brandaja Winston and a related assault on Stratford Avenue in Bridgeport, according to WFSB. Gallimore was convicted in December 2025 on charges including murder, first-degree assault, and criminal possession of a firearm.
The sentence includes 60 years for murder, 10 years for assault, and 10 years for firearm possession, all to be served consecutively. Gallimore will not be eligible for release for eight decades.
Fatal Shooting on Bridgeport's Stratford Avenue in August 2024
The shooting occurred on August 17, 2024, at approximately 2:25 a.m. on Stratford Avenue in Bridgeport, according to WFSB. Gallimore opened fire with an AK-47 assault rifle from a moving vehicle, unleashing multiple rounds into a crowd. Winston, 28, was killed in the attack, and another man suffered serious injuries.
The use of an AK-47 in a densely populated residential area made the case particularly notable. WTNH confirmed the sentencing outcome, noting the severity of the charges and the use of a military-style weapon in a public setting.
The shooting occurred along a corridor of Stratford Avenue that has seen periodic incidents of gun violence in recent years. The attack left the surrounding community shaken and prompted increased law enforcement attention to the area.
Consecutive Sentences Reflect Severity of Bridgeport Case
The prosecution was handled by the Office of the State's Attorney for the Judicial District of Bridgeport, which secured the conviction on all counts at trial in December 2025. The consecutive sentencing structure means Gallimore must serve the full 80 years, with the 60-year murder sentence followed by 10 years for first-degree assault and 10 years for criminal possession of a firearm.
The sentence reflects Connecticut's approach to prosecuting violent firearm crimes, particularly those involving high-capacity weapons used in public settings. The AK-47 used in the attack is classified as an assault weapon under Connecticut law, which has some of the strictest firearms regulations in the country.
Gallimore had been held in custody since his arrest and will remain incarcerated in the Connecticut Department of Correction system.
Investigation Into Second Shooter Ongoing in Bridgeport
While Gallimore has been sentenced, authorities have indicated that the case is not fully closed. WFSB reported that Bridgeport detectives continue to investigate the possible involvement of a second shooter in the August 2024 attack. No additional arrests have been announced, and the Bridgeport Police Department has not released public updates on the status of that investigation since the sentencing.
The unresolved investigation into a potential second shooter means the case remains active from a law enforcement perspective, even as the primary defendant begins serving his sentence.
Anyone with information about the Stratford Avenue shooting or the potential involvement of additional suspects is encouraged to contact the Bridgeport Police Department's Homicide Unit.
